I have learnt with shock and horror of Susan Tsvangirai's death in a car crash. Details are still sketchy and suspicious, but this is a devastating reminder of Mrs Tsvangirai's unassuming and gracious inspiration in the fight for democracy, peace and justice in Zimbabwe. Her quiet demeanour and composure in the face of immense challenges including perpetual threats to her husband, family members, supporters and her own life clearly meant that Mrs Tsvangirai was an invaluable companion and steady rock for the PM on a dangerous journey that has seen Morgan Tsvangirai participate courageously in trade unionism, human rights, politics and government. Morgan Tsvangirai will be inconsolable and Susan will be painfully missed by all.
May her soul rest in peace
