Five guests from Chiayi Presbytery of The Presbyterian Church in Taiwan have completed their 2-week tour of the North Western Synod of The United Reformed Church. They visited all 4 Synod Areas beginning in Cumbria and finishing in South Area. They visited over 20 United Reformed Churches, Luther King House where our Northern College is based, The Windermere Centre, several community projects and also spent two days in London with URC staff at URC central offices.
In the photo above they are greeted by NWSynod Moderator Revd. Richard Church as he presents them with Worship from the URC. Our guests were hosted by many laypeople and ministers across the synod. For some this was the first time to meet people from Taiwan. For others they had met the Taiwanese choir members in 2006. Special thanks to all those hosts and host churches who warmly welcomed our guests and made special arrangements for them to share in the life of their local churches. This kind of home-stay hospitality was very special to our guests and they would like it to continue as part of our arrangements.
If you are a United Reformed layperson in North Western Synod perhaps you would like to twin your church with a Taiwanese church & keep in touch by emails & photos & weblinks? Perhaps you feel inspired to visit Taiwan to volunteer your time teaching English for 3-6 months or to take part in a young adults programme in June 2009? Please contact Revd Kate Gray, St. Marks URC, Wythenshawe to find out more about any of these opportunities or further ideas you have to enrich our partnership at a local church level.
