Marie Trubic (Church Related Community Worker), South Manchester, is helping organise & host a group of Taiwanese people who are visiting the United Reformed Church to learn more about Church Related Community Work. It is a 12 day visit across various synods hosted by the national church office in London. It is one of the parallel & overlapping programme running in the United Reformed Church in addition to our Synod Global Partners Programme. The group will spend 3 days in and around Manchester visiting community projects. We pray for the safe journey & arrival of the group to the UK.
At our recent Synod a free DVD and leaflet was made available to all churches of the Synod. We made 150 copies and gave out about 120 so there are still some churches who'll not have seen the DVD. Please contact Revds Mike Walsh or Kate Gray for a copy. Our new Synod Moderator Revd Richard Church also has some to distribute.
The purpose of the DVD is that every URC member across the Synod including children and young people will be introduced to The Presbyterian CHurch in Taiwan through the DVD they have produced and kindly made available for each of us to share in. You are asked to do several things with the DVD & leaflet:
- Show it in your worship services if possible
- Gather in housegroups & homes to watch it together
- In any case show the DVD before next March Synod when there will be another update
- Pray for or Taiwanese partner church and partnership during Advent
- Get your Sunday School, FURY, Pilots or young peoples group involved in making a display about Taiwan in a prominent place in your church building before next March
- Colour photocopy the leaflet back to back and give to all church members in worship services so you can share, pray in small groups and discuss together similarities & differences between our churches & context
- Contact us via the comments box below & let us know you have done some/all of these or something more creative!
More at a later date...
